Apple stands as the innovator Samsung can never plan to be

Headlines abound today with notions around Samsung realizing it’s fate at the hands of Apple in the court room.

Samsung Electronics Co.’s chief executive officer will talk with his counterpart at Apple Inc. to see whether they can resolve their smartphone patent dispute before a U.S. jury begins deliberating, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Brian Patrick CorkA simple review of history offers insight into the battle. Samsung has it’s origins as a cloner of other company’s hardware. On the other hand, Apple has a long and proven practice of innovation and key acquisition. Koreans are machiavellian (I understand that is me being very generalist). But, I’m long on Apple and it’s quality, as always, and short on sympathy for Samsung.

That said, and, as if to underscore my point, and all of those before them, Apple hit yet another all-time high with it’s stock at 664 a share.
