Brian Patrick Cork: The subject is employees not taking lunch breaks. However, it is greatly evident that this practice does extend to smokers.

We recently moved to a new building. A company next to ours offers a steady stream of employees standing about at VERY regular intervals puffing mindlessly away.

Evidently smokers are extremely focused on their state-mandated smoking breaks. The cost to employers relative to employee down-time is extraordinary, and will be the subject of a forthcoming post and a series around the, “cost of Human Capital“.
